Teachers Workshops & ClassesWhether it is your own weekly pilates lessons, supervised teaching, continuing development, or employment opportunities, we want to hear from other teachers, from both Body Control Pilates and other training organizations. At Cobham Pilates, we have a culture of continual learning and we want you to learn from us and we want to learn from you, so if any of the below are interesting, please do get in touch with our Studio Owner directly at .
If you are planning on completing your teacher training with Body Control Pilates, or you have already begun, you will soon need to organize the supervising teaching component of your training. You can do that with Donna Pourteymour or Cherry Hirst at Cobham Pilates and you are welcome to observe our other teachers to gain valuable experience on your certification journey. Due to our popularity with teacher trainers, the spaces book out quickly so please contact us as early as possible to enquire as to whether we will have a space for you.
Lisa is now offering weekly Teacher ONLY Classical Mat and Reformer Group Classes on Thursday and Friday afternoons, respectively. Due to Lisa's immense popularity among the teacher community, her classes book out well in advance. To book your space for Winter Term 2011, email or call 01932-588707. Classes are as follows:
Thursdays: Classical Mat Workout (1pm-215pm). This class will consist of a 75 minute Advanced Classical Mat Workout focused on getting your body to an advanced level. Through the movement of and work in your own body, you will learn the subtleties of the classical mat exercises, the transitions, and the modifications for those who cannot execute the full advanced exercise. This is a workout class for all qualified teachers; you are not required to be at an advanced level to join this class but the class aims to help you achieve that level over time. Cost is £300 for 12 week term. (Single Classes are allowed on a space available basis; cost per single class £30). Please contact the studio before booking if you have any serious injuries.
Fridays: Teacher's Reformer Classes (times below). Learning through movement, you will be taken through the classical repertoire of the Reformer on a weekly basis by Lisa Bradshaw, learning the exercises in your own body, as well as absorbing the amazing teaching points directly from Lisa. The classes are leveled according to ability. These are workout based classes but with a focus on developing the highest quality technique both in your own pilates practice and, where applicable, in your clients. Teaching tips and modifications will be taught throughout the duration of the course but this is a movement/workout class. For Reformer Workshops, see below. Four persons maximum per class. £480 for the 12 week term. (Single classes are available on a space available basis; cost per single class £45).
Developed and taught by Lisa Bradshaw, these workshops have been created due to the demand of our teacher community, who have requested a forum to focus on the finer teaching points for Advanced Reformer, Cadillac and Chair exercises. These are 6 individual workshops and each workshop is unique in content but with a similar format - a particular series of exercises are selected for each workshop and Lisa shares with us her best tips and teaching points, the underlying purpose of the movement, how to correct and adjust, and how to modify the exercises for particular limitation. Two hours in duration, knowledge based, these workshops are for delving deeper into the Equipment Repoitoire to truly understand how to bring yourself and your clients to a more advanced level.
Cost is £50 per Workshop.

Garuda Matwork Foundation Workshop: Garuda Foundation Matwork is a very safe way to practice. It builds gradually from the micro to the macro. The movements first start by isolating individual muscles, then move on to the myofascial lines they belong to. This gradual formulaic approach makes it especially effective for people with dysfunction or imbalance. It is the best way of introducing clients and teachers to the more complex standing and seated matwork. The Foundation Workshop is an excellent introduction and preparation for the full -3day Matwork Foundation Teacher Training Course which will take place in April.
James D'Silva Foam Roller Workshop: James translates the Garuda repertoire, a culmination of balance, propreoception, strength, functional training and myofascial release on the myofacial roller. In his unconventional way, he will take you from micro to macro and complex movement patterns making the roller and integral part of you're daily repertoire. A workshop not to be missed!
3-Day Garuda Matwork Foundation Teacher Training Course: James will be teaching his unique style, philosophy and movement repertoire, amalgamated in his Garuda Matwork Syllabus. This Matwork Foundation Teacher Training Course focuses on core strength & joint mobility to prepare participants for the expanded GARUDA Matwork (Seated & Standing) Syllabus. It is a controlled whole body workout, which highlights level variations and injury specific adjustments for the Garuda Matwork Series. The Garuda Matwork Foundation Teacher Training is open to all qualified Pilates, Gyrotonic, Yoga and Personal Training Instructors, as well as Individuals with sound knowledge of the Pilates repertoire.
